battery error on a T60
battery error on a T60
My battery is after 1,5 year dead. No power at all and it came suddenly..
If I remove power the T60 shut down.
When i turn it on the battery indicator reach 76% and tells me that:
"there have been registret a damage on the battery that can't be repared. replace with a new."
is a new one the only way?

Check whether the battery was the part of recall or not.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,

This is a fake battery from Hongkong, NOT genuine IBM/Lenovo made for thinkpad.
It is very likely that you will experience the following problems with this battery due to its lack of power management features and poor design:
1. Your T60 won't power on if you use battery only. You have to plug in AC adapter as well.
2. Shutdown only means reboot. Your T60 won't power off unless you hold pressing the power button for a few seconds.
3. In the worst case you could burn your T60. Lenovo won't repair it for you, because you were using unauthorized 3-rd party accessories.
Buy an used genuine thinkpad battery only if you think new battery is pricy. Check with the seller about the remaining full charge capacity and cycle count. Good luck.

Re: battery error on a T60
the very same thing happened to me. I am looking for replacement options now. Not that I am looking for very long autonomy but something with at least 1 hour should be ok.koden wrote:My battery is after 1,5 year dead. No power at all and it came suddenly..

1 year later....
It does almost the same with a new original 1 year old lenovo battery.
battery can only hide 29% of the original full capacity (translated from danish as good as possible
Not the exaxtly same error but it looks like...
