Where'd they actually hide the Roxio software?!

#1 Post by hellosailor » Thu Jun 26, 2008 3:06 pm

I know that I can run "Multimedia Center for think Offerings" from the ThinkVantage Productivity menu, but I'd like to drop a shortcutto the Roxio cd/dvd tools directly onto the taskbar, and run them with two less clicks.

The thing is, I can't find the executable file for this, and even while roxio is running, the Task manager doesn't say where or what the executable is.

Does anyone know just where Lenovo hid the actual file that runs this program?

T61p with Vista Ultimate and the factory image running.

Allowing your cursor to hover of the shortcut in the Start Menu will tell you. You can also right-click on the Start Menu shortcut, select copy, right-click on a blank spot in the Quick Launch area and select paste.

That would work IF the media options were shortcut on the start menu. They are not.

They are two menus down in the selection AFTER the Productivity Center, which is what appears in the start menu. So there's nothing relevant to hover over.

Yikes! Vista! Sorry. I'll take an educated guess. Have a look in c:\Program Files\Common Files\ and poke around for a Roxio or Sonic Folder and then drill down through the sub folders.

Nope. Not there either, nothing at all obvious or tempting in the Roxio folders.

Can't blame this one on Vista--Lenovo are the folks who chose to hide it.

Wasn't blaming it on Vista, just expressing that it's not my OS. On my XP machine the main "dashboard" for all the Roxio-Sonic apps is located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared\Sonic Central\Main and the executable that brings up the dashboard is MediaHub.exe.

Similarly, the location of the Start Menu shortcuts is in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Multimedia Center for Think Offerings, under which you will find the 7 individual shortcuts to the various apps.

If your directory structure is different, a search for MediaHub.exe should locate the rest for you.

Thanks, I'll keep digging. The only "Sonic" item in Program Files now is "Sonic Icons" and indeed--there are no exe's there. Maybe they've shuffled it off somewhere.
