No sound after resuming from Standby on T61p?

Greetings fellow ThinkPad lovers,
I am experiencing a really annoying problem with my T61p. 6460-67U, factory loaded Vista Ultimate.
When the notebook comes out of Standby, half the time, there is no sound. Searching the forum for "sound," no threads stood out regarding this problem. However, I am hoping that it is a known issue and that someone can suggest to me what exactly the problem is, because the system is giving me little to go with as far as troubleshooting.
All I can tell you is that it is totally hit and miss. Sometimes the sound is fine out of Standby, other times it is not. When there is no sound, the software still functions. I can adjust volume bars, there are no anomalies in Device Manager, etc. Windows thinks there's audio but there isn't. To fix the problem, I have to restart the machine (sound is always fine after startup).
HALP!
