Server 2003 + Active Protection System Question

Hi ,

Calling out all people with Server 2003 installed on their T61(p), I'm wondering if your Active Protection System is working properly? I mean, I have the software installed, and it's running, but when I shake it, I don't hear my HDD (Hitachi 200GB HTS722020K9SA00) parking it's head... (the APS pause/play symbols are changing, but I can still fully use my HDD on pause)

Now I'm just wondering if it's because of Server 2003, or

Is it my hard drive, as it's not a Lenovo HDD ...

I've been following this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 2020k9sa00 and it points to Server 2003 as the culprit ... unless my HDD is a dud.. hmmmmm...

Thanks!

I'm currently using Windows Server 2008 on my T60 with the same Hitachi HDD as yours and the drive parks itself when the machine is shaken.

I suggest you install different version of Windows on your machine in order to uncover the culprit or wait for other users with Windows 2003 to reply.

Hi all,

I was a little premature in saying that APS didn't work under Win2K3! .. I did more tests, this time with copying a file with copyhandler, and yes, after shaking, it did pause the transfer..! So in conclusion, yes APS does work under W2K3. Strange thing is, I could not hear the HDD park it’s head (I thought I could with my T41p)…

:D
