Evertime i'm trying to switch to a Windows XP Theme on my Lenovo T61p ThinkPad, the theme is applied and i press OK, and all is well. Then however, when i come to restart the computer, I arrive at a login screen (dialog box is in XP Theme) and then after entering the password and coming to my desktop, it switches back to classic theme again!!! Anybody else had this problem? And if so, how do you solve it?!

I'm almsost sure that you can solve this by changing a specific setting with the Microsoft utility: Tweak Ui

Sorry, you have to dig into it.
The utility offers so many settings.

Many times this utility helped me out to solve specific problems.
May be NOT this time, for you. That would be very unfortunate.

Anyone else able to help Holycrail?

Perhaps if you run through your steps, in selecting a theme? Are you choosing | Start (menu) | Shut Down | and allowing the system to record your settings? What happens if you choose the wallpaper, and the sound files manually?

This is actually an issue for the windows section in this forum...
Do you use any XP tweaking utilities (apart from the one Marie-Anne referred to) or registry cleaners? I remember similar issue due to Client Security Solution (unfortunately I can´t remember any details, that was so long time ago and I strongly doubt that this problem would be still present in CSS after so long time, maybe someone else here is still aware of it). So, do you run CSS or RR (with CSS uninstalled)?

A side note: I´m not sure what the politics of this forum regarding cracked software is, but cracked games or programs for visual or video editing may cause such problems under XP.
