Base replacement

#1 Post by marvel » Thu Jul 10, 2008 3:53 pm

Hi!

After a failed shipment of my T60p I´m considering replacing the base bezel. The shipping company might cover the service costs, but if they don´t - what am I facing in tearms of tweakiness? I´ve changed the cpu in my old T40p and done the other easy tweaks.

Regards

You (or SAV) got to dismantle all the laptop to swap the base... FRU base is not a high price part but it takes time to replace it. I already made it for a T41p. It tooks me about 60 minutes and I'am common with laptop specialy T4x (I already swap a few T4x mainboards).

Look for the hardware maintenance manual :

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62733

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-66958

They explain how to change any part. Advice : take your time, never force any part, work on a clear desk, put the screws in little boxes, look carefully befor doing something.
