XP 64 bit, Let's do this thing
Hi all, here's the deal, i got 4GB ram on my sweet a** lippy (t61)
i thought i would live in peace with the idea of only using around 3GB, but i'm not, what's more, i think it's about time my machine will do 64bit number crunching, i mean, my 486 DX100 was 32bit (for god's sake), so in all politeness and humility i ask you oh wise forum members and elite thinkpad users guide me, help so i can find drivers, for my benifit, for your benifit, for our childrens benifit, for a better future.
peace
Death to Vista

Hi,
Look for the Vista drivers in Lenovo support page that are specifically meant for x64. Then there are drivers where you won´t see explicit x64 or x86. These are either packages that unpack separately in both x64 or x86 folders or are drivers that support both architectures "out of the box". So, look for the first ones; as to the latter, you´ll be able to install their XP equivalents from the XP section on Lenovo support page
I don´t know for T61p, but it worked for my Z61p long time ago except for the onscreen display. Hope this helps.
Cheers
Marin
EDIT: Windows Vista is alive and doing well in the mean time

Hi,
right, I´m using Vista (actually in preparation to entirely move on to Server 2008 in my way, but that is another topic). And yes, for your information, in most cases Vista drivers would work for XP
, but not vice versa! Since you don´t have so much options for getting 64bit drivers for XP x64, I guess you´ll have to stick to the Vista ones to a certain extend. What I tried to tell you, was just a way to sort out which drivers you will need to obtain from the Vista section and which you can get from the XP section on Lenovo support page
That´s because there are also some drivers listed in the XP section that would work under XP x64, but far not all of them, so I guess you may want to know which XP-genuine drivers you could use. That´s why I used bold. Hope, now it´s clear
Cheers
