Thinkpad - Fingerprint/Password

I have forgotten my secondary way of logging into my system: password. Since I purchased my T61, I have used the fingerprint sensor and I occasionally think about the consequence if the sensor goes bad or I lose fingers.

My questions are:

1. Can I use the fingerprint sensor to reset my password without knowing it but having fingerprints?

2. Can I use the fingerprint sensor to reset my login to NOT prompt for password or fingerprint sensor reading.

I think the answer is that the software is not designed to allow a user to simply use fingerprint access as a way to validate the changing of an actual login password and if so, it would not make sense to not allow it. Someone would more than likely hack my password before hacking my finger to gain access to my system.

Nonetheless, the questions remain and thanks in advance,
-Miles

If you are talking about the supervisor password, the answer is no. With the supervisor password, you can enter the BIOS and erase the fingerprint data. (If no supervisor password is set, you can erase the fingerprints without a password) If you forget the supervisor password, you're screwed.
