T60p and video startup will result in black screen

#1 Post by Toine » Sun Jul 13, 2008 4:24 am

I just bought an T60p from the forum, and it's an great machine.
BUT i have this weird problem.
When i double clip an video to open (with windows media player, or classic) I will get an black screen. Nothing will result in an normal machine but rebooting.

Also, if i right click an video and click open with it will work. Sometimes I will get an error as well, but most of the time it will work.

Can anybody state what I'm doing wrong here?

PS: It's win. XP and with IBM software on it (updated of course)

If you haven't already done so, I'd recommend deinstalling the video driver, rebooting, and reinstalling the latest version from Lenovo.

Try using another player like VLC player (google for it) or Media Player Classic. You just might be missing codecs.

If VLC show a black screent oo, diable hotkey polling in the ATI catalyst control center (right click on your desktop) and let us know if that fixes the issue ...

It seems to be the anti spyware and the Utorrent download programe i have that give the black screen problem.
So when utorrent isn't running everything works fine.
