Processor upgrade on T60p

#1 Post by guil_richart » Sat Jul 19, 2008 4:22 am

Hi everybody,

I plan to upgrade my T60p with a Core 2 duo T7200. I found some topics on this subject here, my mothercard is a revision 3.

My goal is to install a 64 bits operating system or a least support 64 bits virtual machines with VmWare.

Can you confirm that Core 2 duo T7200 on a T60p will support this configuration ?

Thanks
Regards

Yes. 64-bit OS's will work fine, either by itself, or inside VMware.

Just remember that T60 will not support more than 3 GB of RAM no matter what...

See my sig. Even T5600 fully supports 64-bit OS.

One thing is very interesting:
I installed Sun Solaris X86 V10 inside VMware in a 32-bit XP. One day I copied the Solaris installation into my T60 running 64-bit Vista. To my supprise, my Solaris boots up in VMware and changes itself into a 64-bit system automatically!
