Wow, this has been much harder to find than expected. I'm getting a new T61 from my employer (who used to play a big part in Thinkpad construction....)...it's a middle of the road build, cheap graphics, but I don't know the exact details yet. But I want to get a 27" 1920x1200 monitor. Will a standard t60/61 drive such a monitor? Where can I find these stats?

I did a search, and there are people talking about advanced docks with external cards. Since that would be on me (employer will not pay), I'd like to skip that route. I could get a port replicator, and perhaps i could pay for a cheap dock if that makes a difference.

Thanks!!

1920x1200 shouldn't be a problem for any modern Thinkpad (my 5 year old A31p can drive it without problems).
If you don't have an advanced (mini) dock, then you can only use the VGA port to connect the Thinkpad and the external monitor. With the dock, you get the option of using DVI (which may produce a better picture - but this may be very subjective - some people see a difference others don't).

As far as i know you can get the T61 with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M or nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (only the p models i think). They all have the max resolution of 2048x1536 (16777216 colors) using an external monitor. If the Thinkpad perform well using the Intel Graphics at that resolution i have no idea. Unless i'm wrong the Intel Graphics is what you mostly find in the cheapest models.
