T61 vs T61p - what's the heat dissipation like?

I'm an old ThinkPad user - I've got an R51, and it served me well, right up until its motherboard shorted out of warranty.

Consequently, I'm looking at the T-series - I've heard amazing things about them.

I'm worried about the heat dissipation, though - I've been poking around this and other forums, and I've seen posts about the T61 series reaching higher temperatures than I'd be comfortable with near my lap, as well as questions about the NVIDIA discrete chipset cooking itself.

So, I'm looking for some experience - is it really that hot?

My T61p unit idle at 60°C for GPU and 45°C for CPU. Fan runs time to time. The laptop is pretty cool. Durong gaming, Quadro reachs about 80°C (it was near 90°C fot my T60p). T61p is cooler and also more quiet than the T60p. And it have much more power !!!

I really loves my T61p. The last one I enjoy so much was my A21p.

Pascal already said it.

The T61p is way cooler than the T60p. My T60p reached aroung 95-100° GPU while gaming and even with battery save mode the GPU never went below 58°, CPU at about 50°.

My new T61p runs idle at aroung 44-45° CPU and 53-55° GPU, and its really silent. :)
