Lenovo T61P loose screen

#1 Post by Pascal_TTH » Wed Jul 30, 2008 7:11 am

If you have this issue : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=AnRXhZMiAaU

Here is the solution : Just order 42W3656 hinge witch are manufactured by Reel. Poor ones are the 42W3655 made by Kato.

To be sure, I order both parts (42W3656 and 42W3655). I open my T61p and inside, it was Kato hinge. So, I put the new Reel and there is any more swinging panel. :)

Enjoy !

Reel 42W3656 : 11,63 (EUR) within VAT
Kato 42W3655 : 9,98 (EUR) within VAT

Is there any special instruction on how to install one? or, do we have to bring one to the service center?

While I could easily do this myself, I'm having my T61p sent in since it has the wobble. Sadly, the only reason the T61p's going in is because of the R60 I had. When I had the bezel replaced, I had to get a set of screw caps replaced, and the sticky strip on the back of the front bezel never stuck to the LCD.

What luck have others had on replacing wobbling hinges? I know it's common for HP, Dell, and Toshiba, but in the dozens of Thinkpads I've had, I've not had it happen to any of them. They've all been rock solid. I don't want them sending it back saying "normal"

I have a T61P 15.4" with the loose hinge. I got it replaced yesterday.

OLD Hinge assembly
PART Kato 42W3655
PART Reel 42W3656

NEW UPDATED PART: 45N4181

The technician claimed that this is a new and updated part. Let's cross finger that it would last longer than the last one

Anybody can tell me if their loose screen is the 15.4" or the 14.1" WIDE or the 4:3 14.1"? Thanks
