Can I activate or add something to get symbols such as the British Pound?

Thanks

Yes, you will need to install the HotKey driver and then you will be able to have shortcuts e.g. Right-Shift + [key of your choice].

Windows has (for many versions now) allowed the user to load different country codes and keyboard layouts, check the help fiels for whichever version you run.

Also try Start, RUN, CHARMAP to launch the character map application that shipped (and I think still ships) in Windows. It shows you character maps for all of your fonts, along with the keycode (Alt+Numeric key) to generate the character--regardless of the leyboard you have loaded. Or, you can just cut and paste the character from the CHARMAP display.

If you routinely use a different keyboard and want key caps that match it, check out DATACAL, they make thin lexan overlays for the keys with alternate characters on them, or sets that you can enter your own characters on. (And for those of us with acidic fingers, they also make clear overlays so the chintzy decals stop wearing off the keys.)
