Sysprep t61 images

#1 Post by joka » Wed Jul 30, 2008 3:22 pm

will I have been charged to create a corp image for deployment in the US and UK consisting of IBM and HP laptops. I have just reimaged a t61p that was shipped with Vista to XP when I then syspreped and created a .wim image for deployment but when I restarted the the machine i got an error that setup had not completed and to run again. I was unable to work around so I did a repair install then tried again. I had originally had that sata controller in ahcpi mode then set back to compatability mode and got a different error with the registry..

anyone doing this with no errors is there a trick?

Hello -

Did you incorporate / inject the new Intel Storage Matrix driver for the t61p into your image? Also I am pretty sure one might need to add a few lines to the sysprep.inf file to help sysprep detect the new SATA controller. Done right, you could probably leave the t61p in AHCI mode.

I haven't try it with my t61p, but I have successfully used my universal image on other AHCI systems (Dell Precision T3400 and Optiplex 755).

Google for the -bmsd switch for sysprep and the SysprepMassStorage section in sysprep.inf. Done right and ran before sealing the image will allow to deploy the image to AHCI and non-AHCI systems. I have a single image running on everything from a T41/X40 to a T61/X61s, so it's possible.
