Returns to standby mode after resuming from standby

I have a T60 running Win XP SP2. Recently, I had a motherboard and fan replaced by a Lenovo technician to correct my heat problem. Ever since then, every time I try to resume the computer after it had been in standby mode, a few minutes later, the computer returns to sleep. I tried reinstalling windows but it did not solve the problem. Instead now, a message pops up saying it cannot access/eject the CD drive and a few minutes goes back to standby. Anyone have an idea what the problem is?

Just a hunch, in power management advanced properties, disable sleep or hibernate when the lid is closed...see if that makes a difference. Let me know.

hi there,
yes, the problem goes away if I disable sleep or hibernate when the lid is closed. However, if I put the computer to sleep or hibernation mode regardless of whether lid is closed or not, the problem persists. My DVD drive is "safely removed" after powering back from a standby/hibernated state and then goes back to sleep again. This happens over and over.
I just tried to update the CD/DVD driver as well as a BIOS update but it hasn't worked.

If the problem goes away when you "disable sleep or hibernate when the lid is closed", I think you may have a bad lid switch. It is located on the inverter on a T60.

The problem still occurs when I hibernate/standby my computer with the lid opened, so it might be something else.
disabled all startup processes

okay, so I tried disabling all startup processes, and the problem was solved, except, my DVD drive doesn't work until I restart the computer. I assume now there's something wrong with my "safely remove" feature.
