SM Bios Service- Driver Corrupt or Missing

Hi All:
Not a big problem, but a problem anyway:
Earlier today I had to reboot and lost my ability to log in with my fingerprint reader (T60, running latest software via Lenovo updates as of 7/22/08). I was able to logon with my password, of course. Once in Windows I took a look at the Fingerprint software and tried a test, but it wouldn't read my finger(s). I looked in System manager and had an a yellow warning on the SM Driver line of SM Bios Service (there is a second line, SM Bus Service, that was fine). I thought this might have something to do with the reader (I honestly never looked before, so it could have always been like that). After a few reboots without success, I restored to 7/22/08 with system restore (glad I made a restore point after that update!). Well, I am back, and the fingerprint reader works fine...but yes, the error for the SM Bios Service is still there! Do I need it- what is it for. I hate any little errors! I am afraid to disable it (though I know it is now anyway) and never have it come back if it is for something I need. Thanks for any assist!

My own post- SOLVED (answer to help others)...

OK all:
While continuing to look all over the web, I found the solution in the Lenovo forums (go figure!):

Re: SM BUS/SM BIOS Service

You need to install the Atmel TPM driver.

It's available for download at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-58054

A follow up from another user, the Phantom TSR in Atlanta:
The SMBIOS is only used at the factory. If you get an error, it's because one of the values was left blank during testing. It makes no difference in system operation.
