Recover Disks to Larger Harddrive?

I did a quick search to see if this question had come up previously, and couldn't find it...

If you've installed a larger hard drive in your machine, and want to restore your laptop to factory condition, can you run the recovery disks on the larger drive? Is the recovery process smart enough to adjust to a size change?
