Useless Message

I have just been updating the T61 via system update, which came up with a mix of Thinkpad and Microsoft updates. One of those offered and selected came up with the following message while installing:
'This system does not support this update' (or it might have been 'This update....')
Nothing to say what it was trying to install!
I can find out, but I can see a lot of others being confused by this type of totally useless message.
(It turns out that it was the ThinkVantage Productivity Centre for Thinkpad Version 3...)
