I figured I'd try newmode.us first since they are a forum sponsor, but I don't see any ultrabay SATA adapters for the T61P listed there.

Anyone have sources and/or part numbers for adapters, complete with any hard drive caddy/shell that is needed for a correct fit in the adapter?

The default internal drives are also SATA, yes? (160GB here)

I'm looking for an Ultrabay SATA hard drive adapter, too, but this link says "no longer available". My searched on the Lenovo site haven't turned anything up. Does anybody know whassup with this? Thanks.

Try see this post and the links pointed to therein. Also, if you Search this forum for 26R9246 many useful hits will come up.

That lenovo link worked fine for me. Maybe the item was just out of stock temporarily. I have one and it works great. The T61 with two hd's is much more useful than with the dvd drive most of the time. DVD no longer has enough capacity to care about.

"DVD no longer has enough capacity to care about."

Don't worry, BluRay r/w drives should be available "soon" and that will push the capacity up tenfold, to some 50GB per disk. I'm guessing they'll be replacing desktop drives at $100 in the fall, and ramping down to the same $25 that DVDs are now within 18 months. Ultrabay adapters? Aren't they always pricier.<G> But there will be USB versions too. At 50GB, they may seem terribly slow.
