Problem popping up with t61

#1 Post by briangig » Mon Aug 25, 2008 10:52 am

I got a refurbished T61 a few weeks ago, and I love it. Has Vista business on it, and I was pleasantly surprised at how few problems I was having. Well that is no more. I had some issues the other day with the computer not waking up properly (I had a cursor, just a black screen) this happend a couple times, hasn't done it again. That is not the one that really concerns me. Now it seems the thinkvantage software is busted. Fn+F5 comes up, but I get the little swirly hour glass BS. If I reboot it works, but it seems sleeping screws it up. Also, the System update doesn't seem to want to open, just get the splash screen.

I'm tempted to remove all the Thinkvantage software and just reinstall it...My best guess is a windows update screwed something up, because I haven't changed anything in a bit.

Here's an existing thread that discussed the "wake from sleep" problem: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=54181
I also saw this interesting thread, which discusses a possible solution near the bottom: http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showpo ... 0&pageid=1
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.
