To those with 15.4" 1920x1200 Screens

How do you like it?

I'm considering a similar model and just wondering if the extra screen space is really used given the high resolution?

Do you like your screen? Do you have to turn up the icon size?

Just curious. Thanks!

If you have decent eyes, the extra resolution is unbeatable in working with professional apps that have lots of palette windows you need open like 3D MAX, Maya, Photoshop, etc.

My screen though is kinda dim.

A Webpae and a PDF open at the same time, for instance.

Also, most of the tools, nowadays, have several sidebars. If your eyes can take it, 1920x1200 is totally worth it.

Depends on what you are doing with it. Internet pages often come up with tiny type, regardless of the browser setting, because they have been coded incorrectly. That's just how it goes.

But if you are doing graphics or mapping or anything else where you need "more dots", there's nothing like it.

If your eyes aren't young and sharp, you'll want "computer glasses", that's what they call reading glasses designed for the more typical 24" distance to a computer screen. Drugstore ones can work.

I've owned one of these babies, and although my eyes are very used to high resolution, the reason that I got rid of it was the abysmal quality of the LCD itself. Washed out colours, poor viewing angles, no real brightness.

Given that you already have a T61 in your signature, it's highly unlikely that you'd be as upset over the LCD as I was, so my advice would be to go for it...as poor as this panel looks compared to any IPS LCD, it's still the best one amongst the Lenovo's current TN offerings...

Just upgraded from t41p (1400 x 1050) to t61p (1920x1200). To be honest, for me the perfect size for web browsing, desktop icons etc is 1400x1050.

Firefox 3 has the ability to set a zoom percentage for web pages (not just the text, but also the images). Setting it to 115 or 120% makes it look the same size.

Only had the new machine for a few days, 1920x1200 is great for Word/Adobe acrobat, or where you need multiple windows opened.

IE7 also has zoom percentages. The problem there, is that the page does not reflow, and it may become too wide to display without scrolling. Does Firefox not have that catch?

I can't use any lower resolution anymore. The Samsung panel stinks. I buy an LG/philips and swap.

Couldn't agree more with these statements. I love the 15.4" WUXGA resolution on the T61p but its brightness, color rendition and view angles are pathetic as compared to SXGA+ LCDs and has a day/night difference between it and an IPS/Flexview UXGA display (day=UXGA, night=WUXGA).

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I don't seem to have any problems with the page being too wide. I am using Firefox 3.0.1 with an extension called PageZoom v0.4.0. I set pagezoom to 120% as the default zoom, and everything seems to work ok.

I had a 15.4" Sager notebook with a Sharp WUXGA screen, and I loved it. I used it for coding and being able to have 4 or 5 files open at once in vim was so nice. Not to mention side-by-side comparisons of web pages at 800px width. I miss it.

Now I'm back to 13.3" XGA... if I could only hacks my WUXGA panel into my X600...

Oh well, I guess it is time to build a projector
