Intel wireless receiver issue

I have a T61p with wifi -- Intel Wireless 4965AGN.
Driver date: 4/30/07
Driver version: 11.1.1.11
Digital signer: MS Windows hardware compatibility publisher

For the first month I had it, I had no problems "powering on the wireless radio". Was able to tap into wifi at home and traveling.

The PROBLEM is that now I can't "power on the wireless radio". The switch on the outside of my laptop case is "on". I've tried FN+F5 without success. I have tried uninstalling the driver without success. I even tried a system restore but was told it didn't "complete successfully".

Any ideas on what I can do to get access to my wifi card again?

Thanks.

Do you use Access Connections?

Yes.

I should also have stated that I use Vista Premium.

Yup, the latter is also important. You could try following things:
1. Device manager -> network devices -> your wifi adapter -> power management: uncheck the box "allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" if it´s checked at all.
2. If 1 doesn´t apply, then try to reinstall AC (if you have time, you may also want to reinstall or update the wifi driver, but I don´t believe it´s the driver that causes the problem. If you decide to, just make sure to firstly install the driver and then install AC; if you are about to only reinstall AC, you can keep the driver).
3. If none of 1 and 2 apply, then try this: Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change advanced power settings -> wireless adapter settings -> expand to Power Saving Mode -> Plugged In -> Set to Maximum Performance: I would be surprised if 3 solves your issue, but since 1 and 2 aren´t applicable, it might be worth a try :)

Hope this helps
