Mushy "G" key on new T61p

#1 Post by lilmanmgf » Sat Aug 30, 2008 8:34 am

I don't know what happened, but the g key on my keyboard has become mushy. All the other keys are snappy and have a nice feel to them, but this particular key doesn't go down as easy or as far. Is this a common thing? Can I fix it?

Carefully pop out the key, check that there isn't anything stuck under it, then reseat it.

Some people try to repair these keyboards but it's a royal pain with a less than 50% success rate. I'd just call Lenovo and tell them a key popped off and they will send you a replacement keyboard.

Popping a keycap off is much less work that replacing a keyboard. it is worth checking to see if there is anything (a crumb, a hair, etc.) wedged under that keycap, before you order the new keyboard.
