Hi,
After getting a 7200rpm disk, the temperature of my palm rest has increased. Its almost not comfortable. Speedfan reports temperature of 40-42 degrees celsius. So I cant really figure out why the palm rest get so heated.
So before deciding whether or not to keep this disk, i would like to know your harddisk temperatures.
Please state the following:
- Rotatation speed
- Storage capacity
- Vendor
- Model
- CPU temp
For you SSD owners, please chip in =)
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
propellen

Primary Hard disk:
FUJITSU MHV2120BH PL

temp:39 C
Secondary Hard disk in Ultrabay:
Hitachi HTS542525K9SA00
5400rpm 250GB
temp:36 C
Current CPU temp: 53 C
Can't feel any heat on palmrest and keyboard at all. Slightly warm on the left side of palmrest because of the E-MU 02 cardbus sound card.

I have a Hitachi 7K320 in a T60p. It's been running continuously for over a week, no power-down.
Temp is 36C, measured with SpeedFan (Vista 64).
propellen (OP), can you modify your post to include your HD temperature?

I just saw your post. I have a similar observation: A few months ago I upgraded my HDD from Toshiba 120 GB 5400rpm to Hitachi 200 GB 7200rpm and from time to time the palmrest over the HDD bay tends to become a bit hotter than it did before. I noticed that because I´m rather a trackpoint user, so even when I don´t use the keyboard, my right hand is on the palmrest. But I can´t say it´s uncomfortable, probably it´s not that hot as in your case.
I´m not sure if it´s related to this topic, but the palmrest gets noticeably hotter when I put my old Toshiba HDD in the ultrabay, which is next to the HDD bay. Then it becomes really uncomfortable (provided both are under some workload). I haven´t measured temps yet, but I´ll do it when I´m back home.
