PC suddenly taking long to sleep

Hey guys have a t61 with vista business, and all of a sudden it is taking about 4 minutes to go into sleep mode. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to look.. i checked the event log and there is nothing unusual in there i dont think. Wakes up just fine though..

I have roughly the same machine and do not see that issue. However, I do notice, that:
(1) After installation of some software, it can take 4 or 5 minutes to shutdown and/or restart.
(2) Sometimes after such a lengthy restart, it can (not always) come up in the wrong mode (the dreaded Aero mode).
Invariably, after all the above, I shut it down completely, start it back up and things return to normal.
This doesn't help much, I realize. ... JDH
