T60 wasn't struck by lightning but...

#1 Post by julia » Mon Sep 08, 2008 8:57 pm

It acted like it. I was playing a DVD from Netflix and it got really hot and the DVD (very used) kept jamming...

This is what happened shortly after

I lost my dialup modem. Thinkpad said "it wasn't there" -- and it didn't exist -- so I couldn't get online. All of a sudden, just like that. And when I turned the system off, it took forever holding down the "on" button to get it back on. It was almost gone too, and earlier it had always responded to such a light touch.

I got on the LAN connection to get help from Comcast and couldn't even type in the URL. What a mess. So we accessed the system thru safe mode. They did some repair but it's not right, and still under warrenty, I'm calling Lenovo tomorrow.

Has anyone exprienced anything like this? Comcast said it was a virus or a lightning strike but... I wonder if the hot DVD caused something to burn out.

Any ideas greatly appreciated...

P.S. I finished watching the flakey DVD on the 15" 2005 Sherman-Tank-Latitude I was given which I never use! But what a difference. Is the T60 not up to playing DVDs I wonder...
