recommendations for warranty service provider in NYC?

#1 Post by andrea b. » Sat Sep 13, 2008 9:28 am

Hi, all -

I have a T60 (2623 D6U) with a little mileage yet on its extended warranty (a thing I rarely sign up for). There's an issue with the screen (a spot on the underside - no dead pixels, monitor seems ok, just what looks like a 'water-stain' - but isn't). So I am planning to take it into an NYC service provider.

And while I'm at it, ask a few tune up questions.

Any recommendations on a provider in Manhattan, NYC? I see Datavision (big-box sort of store), New York University (which probably services only students / profs) as well as various 'unknowns'.

Any clues?

Thanks!

Andrea B.

I'd like to know too. I wish there were some store as dedicated to ThinkPads as TekServe is to Macs.

For a machine within warranty, send it to depot. No store in NYC should be trusted with a ThinkPad that is still covered. Period.

If the unit is out of warranty term, there are members in the NYC area that provide excellent repair service. Feel free to PM me for a referral.

Hope this helps.

Thanks - sending it in to IBM / Lenovo seems like very sound advice. I need to be safe, rather than sorry.

I recall a few good reports from posters who have used warranty service providers in NYC - but I don't have the coordinates.

Thanks!
