T60 not keeping correct time.

So to make a long story short my lovely wife spilled her coffee into my laptop. She managed to pull the power and battery and we got it cleaned up after working on it for a couple of days. So far the only problems I have had are the DVD will not burn anything, and the clock is stuck at the same time 11:09 pm. I change the time manually but it does not keep up with the correct time, and if I reboot or go into standby it reverts to 11:09. If I leave it alone it will go to 12:03 an then back to 11;09. I am pretty sure I need to replace my motherboard but is there something else that could be wrong?
TIA.

You may try to install a new BIOS battery first.

I had pretty much the exact same problem. Got IBM/Lenovo to replace the BIOS/CMOS battery and it's been working perfectly ever since. Might be a good idea to run PC Doctor 5. When I ran it (dos bootable) the test for the real time clock failed.

The battery should look something like this:

and you can access it by unscrewing the screws corresponding to the palm rest and the keyboard, five screws in total from memory.
These battery can be bought over ebay for like 6~10 USD.
