140M and external lcd

#1 Post by nikokg » Sun Sep 14, 2008 6:47 am

Hi,

I'm considering buying Iiyama 24'' lcd monitor(1920x1200)
and somethimes I will connect my T61 to it with D-SUB.

Here comes the question: is NV 140M powerfull enough to handle this resolution? I'm developer and I mainly use my Thinkpad with software like Visual Studio etc.

My T61 Specs:

T7300
2 gigs of Ram
NV 140M

Thanks a lot
T61: T7300, 2GB, 100GB 7200RPM, NV140M

Should not be a problem.

Yes, the NV140M can handle the LCD monitor.

However I'd suggest to get a Advanced Mini Dock and connect through DVI. After all, the investment on the LCD monitor is quite huge. To really make it worth, DVI is a much better option compare with D-Dub.

I have a NV140M driving a 24" LG LCD (W2452T) thru a minidock. It's hooked up using the VGA connector. The T61/Vista OS detects it at boot and auto sets the resolution to 1920x1200. The Thinkpad has a WXGA lcd.

This is an amazing combination.
