T60 - when sound is turned up - high pitched whining.

This is driving me nuts. Whenever I turn the sound up, it starts to feedback on itself and makes this intense high pich sound.

Mic volume is at zero (but why would that be an issue anyway?).

Anyone got any ideas on this?

Thanks

My T61, 14' 4:3 is doing the exact same thing.

If I turn the sound up past volume #10, then I get a high pitched feedback sound. The only way I have been able to get rid of it, is to pull the laptop towards me so the front of it is hanging off the desk and the speakers have nothing underneath them.

I do have a 15' T60 4:3 that I will test this weekend to see if it's doing it as well. Perhaps there is a reason Lenovo put the speakers on the widescreen models on the top of the base instead of underneath.

Go to the sound control panel, enable the microphone control if it is not enabled, and mute the mic.
