T60p BIOS compatible with Intel SSD, Intel 5300 WiFi Link???

#1 Post by Crunch » Mon Sep 29, 2008 1:39 pm

Hi folks,

So I ordered the Intel X25-M Solid State Disk, as well as the Intel 5300 WiFi Link. Just a couple of questions as to the hardware compatibility regarding each item:

With the SSD, is it just plug & play? Basically, if remove the drive I have as my main drive, and pop the SSD in, will I be good to go, or will I need special drivers for it to work??

I want to re-install everything from scratch, so will my T60p recognize the SSD just as it has every other drive I've had in there??

As for the 5300 WiFi card, are we back to the "whitelist" on this one?? I upgraded the 3945ABG card that came with my system with the Atheros a/b/g/n card without any problems, but only because it was on the Whitelist. If I had wanted the 4965AGN card to work, it would not have been possible, without hacking into the BIOS. What am I facing with the 5300 WiFi Link card, which is also from Intel??

Thank you all!!

Probably the 5300 wifi card from intel will not work. Based on deduction, it seems that only one generation of Intel card may work with one generation of chipset in Lenovo laptops.

The SSD will work fine. It will function normally as if it's a HDD.
Now my question for you is, where do you find the Intel SSD for sale
I look for it almost a whole month now without success. If you can point me to a distributor or how to order from Intel themselves, I would appreciate it :)

You're facing the same issues as you would with the 4965AGN. People have done the 5300 thing already, btw:
