T60 Upgrad to a WD Scorpio Black 320gb?

#1 Post by sscalf » Fri Oct 03, 2008 4:19 pm

I am looking to upgrade th HD in my T60. I was looking at the WD Scorpio Black in th 320GB. Is this a good choice or should I look at something else?

As a side note, Does anyone know what in the world the blank cover on the front edge of the t60 is for? it is just to the right of the touch pad. It looks like it is for some kind of media card reader, but I have no Idea. I guess I will have to take it apart.

That's a good drive to get. I just installed the same drive on my wife's T60. To the right, I think that is where the hard drive is. Is that what you're referring to?

No need to take it apart. SD-card reader or other media stick option.

The WD or Seagate or Hitachi 320GB drives are all good choices, prices dropping from $150 to $100 if you catch a sale, always one of them for under $125 now.

Hey Thanks,
do you have the wide screen or standard screen T60???
It is the widescreen.

Actually I was asking two different questions. Sorry for the confusion.
No need to take it apart. SD-card reader or other media stick option.
Can I install this option on the T60?

As far as the drives mentioned:

Are all of these compatible with the active protection? Also, what is the consensus as far noise with these drives?

Wow, all I can say is that these drives are great. I have two of them in RAID 0 in my Gateway P7811-FX Gaming laptop. I have one in my T60 as well. I got them on sale for around 90.00 Shipped a few weeks ago. They perform almost as well as a desktop 7200 RPM drive.
