Is this possible ? I have the WUXGA T61P plus the advanced dock and would love to connect a external 30" monitor. I know the Dell requires 2 x DVI connections so how would I do this ? a splitter ?

ps. Love this laptop to bits especially the Linux support

Does the Dell 30 inch require two separate DVI to work?? I thought it just use a dual link DVI port to work, which is what the DVI port on the mini and advanced docks are.

Yeah, it really is a single, dual-link DVI connection.
