Access Connections "crashes" wireless connection

Well, here we go again. Tried to upgrade to Access Connections 5.02 and once the T60 rebooted, I tried to use one of my wireless profiles and the wirless option was grayed out. Tried to use fn+F5 and there was no "on-off" button for the wireless, just the bluetooth.
This happened last year with another "upgrade" of AC and the power manager, wireless driver and AC had to be uninstalled and re-installed in a certain order.
But there's a different twist this time: the wireless pci card doesn't even show up in device manager/system. It's gone completely.
The BIOS has all switches enable in regard to the internal wirless network card so now I'm completely at a loss what to do.
Support tech tried but no luck either.
Sounds like the card took a dump...
Any help?
Thanks!
Mike
