If my memory serves me correctly, there was three suppliers of these screens. Which one is the best?

If I buy replacement Flexview screen that is from a supplier different than the screen that I currently have then is that going to cause problems?

The flexview manufacturer that seems to have been the most coveted here was Boe Hydis. I don't know if their displays are still available. I ordered one from Seller BrownGranite on eBay and got what I ordered.

I just checked out their site and there was a UXGA T60 display at this link:

If you call them I'd assume they would tell you who the mfg is.

LCD from a different manufacturer will not cause problems, as long as it's been made for T60.

Agreed on Boe Hydis being the most loved one, but as long as it's a clean new LCD with no dust specs or bleeding, all of them are very, very nice screens.

I recall that you previously reported having some difficulties with reading the too small fonts on your T43p (in the thread lowering UXGA resolution?) so I believe you are perhaps referring to a SXGA+ T60 here, and not UXGA? Please clarify!

If you are indeed referring to 15" T60 SXGA+ FlexView/IPS LCD's then I have not personally seen other than the FRU 42T0325 which I am however very happy with - this being a a LG-Philips LP150E05(A2)(K1) panel, as e.g. discussed in this thread.

Can a 1400 by 1050 15 inch 4:3 flexview like Johan was selling be installed in a T60 that does not have a dedicated GPU? (IE has an intel 950 or whatever)?

Good question. I don't know much about Flexview screens but I would imagine it's no difference for the motherboard if you have Flexview or TN. Some time ago I did an upgrade of my XGA (1024x768) T60 to SXGA+ (1400x1050), both being a standard TN displays. My T60 (see sig.) doesn't have a dedicated GPU, I'm using the Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics. The new display works perfectly.

After quite some digging I've found out that some 19xx CTO versions with Intel-based boards were offered with IPS LCDs, so this should work.

So does that mean they'll work with any Intel based GPU or just the 19xx machines? Nice find.

Well...19xx series are Intel-based T60 units. So, theoretically, this should work on R60 as well...

However, given the experiences people have had with upgrading LCDs on T43 units with Intel-based boards, I'm not going to claim it will certainly work...

My situation is that I wouldn't mind lugging a 15 incher around, but I know for a fact that I do not need a video card which isn't capable of running the games I want, that I do not plan on running CAD on.

Basically all a discrete video card would do for me is add heat and steal battery life.

I know also that 1600 by 1200 while it is going to be a gorgeous Boe Hydis (SP) screen, text will be too small for me.

So a 1400 by 1050 flexview would get me a good screen that is not too high res.

Would I be able to pop this screen in while simply using the factory screen ribbon cable with a low resolution screen?

Very curious. Sounds like fun (its easier to find a separate screen than a thinkpad with one installed) and almost all of them have discrete video cards.


I want to make sure - They did make NON flexview 1400 by 1050 screens on the T60 15 inch correct? Only some are flexview?

All 15" SXGA+ screens are Flexviews...on T60/p, that is.

LCD cable is the same for all 15" models regardless of resolution.
