T60 docking station?

#1 Post by Outlaw » Sun Oct 19, 2008 3:56 pm

Can any of the 3 docking stations run multiple monitors? I don't need it to play games just run MS office and photoshop.

You can attach 2 external monitors to both, the Advanced Mini Dock and the Advanced Dock; one via VGA port and one via DVI port (but in this case you cannot use the Thinkpad LCD). I don't have any experience with the third one (the Essential Port Replicator). But as far as I know, it lacks the DVI port, maybe you can still connect a VGA screen to it and another one to the Thinkpad's VGA port directly, but I wouldn't know whether this actually works.

As a BTW: you can install a PCIe graphics card in the Advanced Dock and add two more external monitors (= 4 alltogether), if you feel the need .

Forgot to mention the following, which I also posted as an answer to a similar question in another thread:
Note that the integrated graphics models support all docking functions except DVI-D - at least according to the official specs. Though I seem to remember to have read that people reported success in getting the DVI to work with the integrated graphics models as well.

The integrated graphics can run DVI just fine on the T60/T61. The Tabook confirms it and so does my personal experience.

Apparently, the GMA950 on the Z61t can only run DVI on the latest models (the ones with C2D, October 2006).

I have no information regarding the R series.

So you say that all T60 with GMA 950 provide a working DVI through the dock? How sure are you about this?

I have the ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 card in my T60, I'm looking to run two 19" LCD's with a docking station.

I am sure that I have a T60 with a GMA 950 that provides DVI through the dock.

I also know that the Tabook lists all T60 models as providing DVI pass-through support.
