Hey folks,

I am planning to upgrade my T60p to a core2 merom cpu.
Doing some research here and in other forums I read that you can only upgrade to 7400/7600 etc cpus cause of different socket / pin layout. I read here in a post that 7500 would be a "fcbga" package.
That's not entirely true though.
Intel offers the 800mh meroms in BOTH package forms, also as "fcpga" which is said to be working in the t60...

Check this:

http://processorfinder.intel.com/detail ... Spec=SLAF8

Can anybody bring some light to this? I mean I would also stick with a t7400 but if a t7500 is possible .... it's cheaper and prolly a tick faster running at 800mhz fsb.

thanks for any help

Simply put, T60 has a Socket M and T7500 is a Socket P processor. It won't fit.

Intel's processor finder does not differentiate between Socket M and P. They probably don't expect users to upgrade their laptop's processors, but they can be more clear in their specs.
