What is up with my 4058CTO!?!

#1 Post by Greg Gebhardt » Sun Oct 26, 2008 11:20 am

Last week or two it will stop displaying the text I am typing and then all of a sudden it all appears! Kinda like the machine is freezing for about 5 seconds. When it does this the cursor does not move when using the touch pad or stick.

I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit with 4mb or RAM. My dual core processor is using about 5 to 10% at the time and my hard drive light is harly running.

I am running McAffee but have for years on all of my machines and never sene this. I do not mind the test being delayed but input on the touchpad is a pain in the butt!

I am also using DiskDoctor to keep my disk defragmented.

Guess I should start with turning off Disk Doctor to see if that is the problem. Just wondering if anyone else is having a problem.

Thanks

Try running PC-Doctor diagnostics on the keyboard. Also, I'd try booting up a live Linux CD to see if the problem happens in another OS. That would isolate the problem to hardware or the OS (Vista).
