I know people are using T60s via a dock and DVI connection to drive 1680x1050 external monitors. Can I do the same with a VGA connection? My T60 has X1400 video.

Thanks. Just to clarify, the X1400 can drive a 1680x1050 external monitor in its native resolution (as opposed to some lower resolution) via VGA?

Yup, my intel GMA x3100 drives 1920x1200 easy over VGA.

It'll drive a 1920x1200 display over VGA too, but in my case it looked like crap . . . shimmering was contributing to a great deal of eye fatigue.
I bought the Advanced Mini-Dock for its DVI output and the display is now rock-solid.
