You pretty much have to make your own decisions. There are vastly more opinions on this subject than there are posters. Just remember one thing here: On a properly set up machines, processes use memory (which is cheap) and not CPU. I have 115 processes running on my Vista machine, lots of available memory, and two CPU's that loaf along at less than 2% usage more than 95% of the time, even with three machines running simultaneously.
