The EQUALIZER BOOST GAIN in the VLC Player is perfect.. but that for DVDs.

Does anyone know of / has any thoughts on how we could have a DEFAULT... EQUALIZER for the Sound Card / Sound Driver that could be used to have a DEFAULT GAIN... for the laptop on a permanent basis irrespective of the app being used... especially when watching an online YOUTUBE or streaming thing that is MAXED as well but cannot avail of the VLC like GAIN / BOOSTING.

I tried the VLC...it helps...a little bit

Still desiring some more. Has anyone tried that ffdshow mentioned above?

I realize laptops, especially business grade laptops, shouldn't be expected to have a honking speaker system...but on my t60p...wow...just wow...are they low. It's a strain just to watch a DVD in bed with the laptop on my lap....with the speakers exposed and facing me (not muffled up in the blankets).

The VLC thing is fine for Files but cannot be used when watching Online Browser streams. Also, its irritating to have to go to VLC everytime for the same Amplitude Modification.

I was wondering if its possible somewhere inside the Sound Driver configurations or Registry Settings to make a "higher default" volume level by changing / hacking some values in the OS, since obviously its capable of higher volume performance through Apps.

Posting some links, Windows / Drivers / INF / Registry Experts do share some thoughts.

ok so ive also looked into this once before. but i thought i would do it again. there are quite a few programs that are suppose to do this but most of them don't work. and if they do work they some times don't work on other things. the simple fact is that if your sound card comes with an equalizer then your set. but if not then your stuck. and yes you can really really boost the autio with VLC media player. how to boost it even more is click on audio, equalizer, then click club, this will boost it about double. then when you see the volume bar thats not the hole thing. while in video or audio for that matter hold Control and press the up arrow key. this will boost the audio another 4 times.

but one program i did find to work is blaze audio WebEQ, it works with almost all videos and games but when watching videos online it comes out kind of scratchy, how ever i have not played around with this that much so it might just need a reboot.

anyways i hope you guys find out a good way to do this.
later

I'll be watching this to see if any more interesting solutions present themselves, but I have to agree with the O/P - the volume capacity on my T61p does seem inadequate.

My old 600 with top-mounted speakers was able to generate quite a lot more volume. Perhaps they used a more powerful speaker.

You don't have to. You can set the default in advanced preferences.

In my T61 they are GRAYED out. Also, my Sound is Maxed and I can barely hear YouTube Videos in browser. When I download and save the FLV files and play them via VLC I have to do the Pre-Amp EQ

Are you sure you ticked the box to have access to advanced preferences?

Yes.

I open the BOX via the Button it shows 2 sliders:
Bass
Treble

Radio Box:
Disable Digital Output.

Again.. I am curious to see if there is some kind of Sound Driver hook.. or Sound Driver replacement. E.g. Creative SB Live Cards.. Default Driver software used to have a Graphic EQ. I am wondering if we can add a default AMP / Graphic EQ here.

PS: Can anyone point out which Company / Model / Brand Sound Card we have? Wondering if we could get a Complete Soundcard Driver + Software suite from their website?
