(Solved) Catalyst Control Center unhandled exception error

#1 Post by gaphic2 » Wed Nov 12, 2008 5:37 am

I'm having a bit of trouble with the Catalyst Control Centre. After a video driver reinstall, I'm getting an unhandled exception error when I open CCC.

Code: Select all

************** Exception Text **************
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
   at ATI.ACE.CLI.Component.Wizard.WizardForm.Back()
   at ATI.ACE.CLI.Component.Wizard.WizardForm.btnBack_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)
   at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e)
   at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e)
   at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m)
   at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m)
   at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
   at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
This is the 8.38 driver. I ran AtiCimUn before installing the driver.
I also upgraded .net to 3.5 SP1.

Does anybody have any ideas to fix this?

Edit: managed to resolve this - apparently the ATI utility did not remove everything from the old installation. It took several passes of Driver Cleaner.net and CCCleaner to completely get rid of the newer driver.
