I currently have T60 with 2GB ram. I am thinking of upgrading to 4 GB ram. Can anyone suggest me whether my system can support 4GB or not? The following is mys T60 spec

Intel core 2 duo T5600 1.83 GHZ, Intel 945 GM chipset, 2 GB RAM,
model - 1951-CN9

I'm pretty sure you're fine with the 4 gig, but your operating system may not support the full 4 gigs. There is also the issue of whether or not you have two dimms or one installed (2x1g versus 1x2g). If you have a slot open, then you should be fine to add a dimm.

There is a sticky thread about T60/T61 memory limitations.

T60 supports 3GB max no matter if you have a 32 or 64 bit OS. You can put 4GB in but 1GB will stay unused. If you put in more than that, the laptop won't even start.

If you have 2x1GB sticks in it right now, the best thing to do is to swap one of them with a 2GB one for a total of 3GB RAM. If you have 1x2GB stick, just buy another 1GB one.

T60s can only address 3 gig of ram regardless of the operating system. This is a hardware limitation. Check out the sticky post concerning memory limitations.

I have 3GB installed in my T60, 1- 1GB module, and 1- 2GB module. I run a lot of very resource intensive apps and I find that 3GB is plenty of memory. It runs fast and smooth. I see no reason to desire more than that, especially since it will not be addressed anyway.

Cheers...
