HELP - Troubleshoot Speakers

#1 Post by ippirate » Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:42 pm

Hi, I encountered some problems with my speakers.
I have a T61 with all the latest drivers installed. My headphone jack works, but the speakers on the laptop don't.
Anyone have any ideas???

Is there a beep when plugging and unplugging the a/c adapter?

If you check the BIOS settings CONFIG/ALARM/POWER CONTROL BEEP. If not enabled enable and see if you hear anything when plugging and unplugging.

I enabled the setting and did not hear a beep when I unplugged the power. Does this mean it is a hardware malfunction?

It appears to be.

Hopefully you can make a call for a warranty repair. If not send me a PM.

This sucks... I am going to do it during my thanksgiving break... I need my laptop right now...
This is my first Thinkpad... I am somewhat disappointed in its quality right now...

Anyways, thanks for the help.

I forgot to mention taking notes on Word solves this problem.

Nicely done.

I had a similar problem where I lost the left audio in the left speaker, the right speaker worked fine. After a reboot all was well again. Weird Eh.
