Start Up No Connectivity No Thinkvantage Apps will work

Sometimes when I boot up, the wireless will not connect and no Thinkvantage apps will open. I go to the start menu and select Thinkvantage Productivity Center and it will not open. The HD whirs a bit, hourglass appears, but the app will not open. The FN+F5 will not do anything either and I cannot connect and it appears as though not all startup services were initialized.
If I reboot, the system seems to start up just fine and everything works great, including Thinkvantage. However, on the reboot, several programs stop responding and I get the end now dialog, and then it takes a long time to restart.
I am using Access Connections. T61P with Intel 3945ABG. Windows XP Pro. Saw a similar post at http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... el+3945abg but no solutions were offered.
Anyone know what I can do? I have (due to other issues) restored to factory settings once already and this weird start up would happen on the old install, too.
Thanks for your help!
