upgrading LCD on a t60p

I love my widesceen t60p, but its weakest feature, I think, is the LCD. The resolution is fine, but there are annoying dark spots, it could be brighter, and the viewing angles are not great.
So, I was wondering if anyone can explain what I'd have to go through to upgrade to a better one. Who sells them, where can I order one, is it possible/easy to replace myself, or would I have to bring it to a shop?
Much thanks!

I don't see that you have much of an upgrade option with a WS version of T60p...unfortunately, they're all pretty much the same junk...
There were only two type of panels offered on these machines, Samsung and LG, the latter being slightly less horrible than the former, and the FRU for LG LCD is
42T0327 .
As for information on "how to", you'll get quite a good idea from this thread:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=69563 and from HMM:

Hope this helps.

Before you go hunting for an LCD based on the T61 thread above, know that LCDs in T60 have a special Lenovo "mark" in the EDID memory. This means that you can only use LCDs made by Lenovo (the Samsung and LG mentioned above) or you will have to get an EEPROM programmer hardware and program the EDID of a non-Lenovo LCD. Additionally it may be quite difficult to get the right EDID contents to program.
AFAIK, this limitation was removed in T61.
You will find more info in the sticky thread (LCDs on T60/T60p). Especially this post by Troels:

Interesting Yak. I'd love to see if its possible to get that Sharp 14" UXGA loaded onto replace the LCD on a 14" SXGA+ T61.
