Battery not installed Error-Faulting application PWMUIAux...

#1 Post by xidix » Mon Nov 24, 2008 12:27 pm

Hi,

I am new to this forum and I have searched for similar issues which led me to where I am today. I decided to create a new topic as there seems to be no direct match. Forgive me if this is not true.

Machine Specs:
  • OS Name: Microsoft® Windows VistaT Enterprise
OS Version: 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001
    OS Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation
    OS Configuration: Standalone Workstation
    OS Build Type: Multiprocessor Free
    System Manufacturer: LENOVO
    System Model: 7665Y6G
    System Type: x64-based PC
    Processor(s): 1 Processor(s) Installed.
    [01]: Intel64 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11 GenuineItel ~800 Mhz
    BIOS Version: LENOVO 7LETC1WW (2.21 ), 01/07/2008

    ThinkPad Power Management Driver 1.51
    ThinkPad Power Manager 2.36
I was getting a failure with the startup item Thinkpad Power Manager using the command
rundll32 C:\PROGRA~2\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\PWMTR64V.DLL,PwrMgrBkGndMonitor
It would not start for me either automatically or manually from a command line. It was failing with

Code: Select all

Faulting application rundll32.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bb52, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791adec, exception code 0xc015000f, fault offset 0x00000000000603f1, process id 0xadc, application start time 0x01c94e191c3ec756.
I then installed .net 3.5 as part of another requirement and noticed that the system tray utility then loaded but said that the Battery Not Installed. I found one other person with the Battery Not Installed error but no resolve. If you clicked on the system tray or the ctrlpnl it crashed again with

Code: Select all

Faulting application PWMUI.EXE, version 1.0.0.0, time stamp 0x48dafcf7, faulting module PWMUICtl.dll, version 1.0.0.0, time stamp 0x48dafc3e, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000324df, process id 0x1248, application start time 0x01c94e4f86e23d28.
Finally I reinstalled the c++ libs and still have a similar issue with Battery Not Installed and when you try the sys tray or the cntrlpnl you get

Code: Select all

Faulting application PWMUIAux.exe, version 1.0.0.0, time stamp 0x48dafd01, faulting module PWMUICtl.dll, version 1.0.0.0, time stamp 0x48dafc3e, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000324df, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10.
I have tried reinstalling the from the System Update but it seems to install software around the offending dlls which are in the root of the thinkpad utils.

Has anyone come accross this issue before? Please can you offer some advice as I am trying to create a base image with everything as clean as possible for a small team.

Many thanks for any assistance.
