Hello,
I was looking for an T61, and spotted one, on a 2nd hand site.

I asked the seller if he knew which GPU is in the ThinkPad. He couldn't look because there was no HDD in the ThinkPad.

I asked him to give me the typenumber on the bottom of the ThinkPad.

His answer was:

6464-CTO

I looked on the Lenovo site, but i could only see that it is a T61. No further specs.

If he gives me the serial number of the laptop, is it possible for me to look up which graphics card is installed ?

I really want an T61, but not one with an Intel GPU (i like to play games, and the Intel GPU is unable to handle games)

Once you have the serial number, go here and enter the type (6464) and serial number. You will see a list of parts the system shipped originally with. The GPU will most likely not be listed separately but as part of the system/motherboard (look for something called "planar"). Then, use the FRU number of that one and either google it and/or look in the hardware maintenance manual for it. This will tell you whether it is integrated or nVidia (of course, this assumes that the systemboard was never changed). Another strong (though not 100% reliable) indicator is the power supply: if it's 90W then it's nVidia, if it's 65W, then it's integrated (it's not 100% reliable because I've seen integrated graphics ship with 90W AC adapters but not the other way around).

One word of caution: sometimes the motherboard has been changed on used machines.

The 6464 base model has an Intel X3100 GPU, so whatever else in configured on it, you'll get that GPU.
