Battery Maintenance Problems on T61

Hey,

I recently updated my thinkpad software, and it turned all vistaish from the nice old clean look. No matter, I figured, since atleast all the functionality still existed. Apparently I was wrong.

I used to have my battery maintenance set so it charged when below 40% and stopped at 90%. Now, sometimes the battery charges all the way to 100% and starts recharging regardless of when I plug it in. I double checked the settings, restarted the computer and everything. Sometimes the thresholds work, and other times they donèt.

Anyone having similar issuesÉ

PS: My keyboard also seems to be typing random things!! (as you can see below). Any help with this is also appreciated.

é - slash
É - question mark
è - apostrophe
È - quotation marks
¨- curly open bracket
^- square open bracket
Ç - curly close bracket
ç - square close braket

Thanks.

This has always been the case (that is they mostly apply but sometimes don't) for me, since T43 days, and the latest version of Power Manager does not behave in any noticeably differently manner in that respect than earlier ones, as far as I can tell.

Cheers,

Bill B.

A foreign language keyboard layout might be active on your computer. You can change that in Control Panel.

Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to be worried. However, my keyboard problem persists, and it`s not because of a foreign keyboard installed (i checked). It seems to be an on and off issue as well, because sometimes its all fine.

I've got a t43p, and the most recent version of power manager. It always charges to 100% no matter what the settings. Anyone know how to fix?

Is it a good idea to set it to charge only upto 90% or something less than 100%? Does that improve battery life? I have set mine to start charging once the battery goes below 15% but the max has been set to 100%. Is there any benefit to setting the max to less than 100%?

Thanks,
